May Half Term Highlights: Performance Camp Success, Academy Taster Day, and Special Guest Appearance

Performance Camp:

This week has been jam-packed with exciting new opportunities for all who took part. Over the past three days, we hosted our Performance Camp, which saw nearly 40 players participating in a variety of football training sessions, fun challenges, and games.

What Was Different?

We were fortunate enough to welcome Glenn McConnell, a first-team player from Cambridge United, to visit our camp. This was a fantastic opportunity for the players to speak with Glenn, hear about his journey, and be inspired. Glenn generously took the time to take pictures, sign books and shirts, and even led a team to victory in our tournament.

What Else Went On?

As we prepare for the next season, we have been running taster sessions for players interested in joining the academy for the U9/U10/U11/U12 age groups. These sessions included face-to-face presentations and on-pitch taster sessions, providing a comprehensive showcase of our academy programme.

Coach Dean presented a detailed overview of what the academy offers, including the kit, experiences, opportunities, fixtures, syllabus, session structure, and player/parent commitments. Coach Sammy delivered a one-hour training session on the AstroTurf, giving players a taste of the training and the level of detail included in our academy sessions.

For those unable to attend the taster day, we are now offering virtual presentations or pre-recorded presentations to provide a full insight into our programme.

Our academy trials will take place in the summer, with dates to be released next week. This will be where we select players to join the programme. We would like to thank all the parents and players who attended the taster day, and we look forward to seeing everyone at the trials.

Additional Highlights

Our U10s Player Performance Programme (now Academy) was invited to participate in an academy recruitment event on Friday afternoon. This was another great opportunity for our players and those joining next year. The players delivered brilliant performances throughout the afternoon, and we congratulate them for showing such high standards.

It has certainly been a very busy week, and we would like to thank everyone who attended any of the events.

Stay tuned for the release of all summer dates for camps and trials next week.
